Art auction

The description below relates to the last Art Auction in 2018, prior to the sale of the Old Friary and to Covid-19. We have left it posted here for interest, as a reminder that we hope and pray that future events like this will be possible.

The Art Exhibition has been supported by many ‘Visionary’ group artists who have generously donated work to be auctioned at a function – ‘Benefit Art Auction and Soiree’ on the 20th May at 6pm.  Available for purchase will be a beautiful watercolour painting by Maria Field, oil paintings by Kerry Holland and Jenni Long, lino prints by Sue Poggioli and ceramic pieces by well-known Brisbane ceramicist Rita Ringma.  There will also be a papercut by Gabriella Veidt Wiedmer.  At the function there will be live music provided by the Mythos Quintet, together with drinks and finger food.  There will also be  - woodwork, handmade jewellery and stationery, textile items which include a single bed quilt and a wall hanging for sale as well as the artwork which will be sold under both live and silent auction conditions.

We are supporting the work of the Foundation for Relief and Reconcilliation in the Middle East (FRRME) who work in Northern Iraq amongst the Internally Displaced People (families) who are living in camps in desperate circumstances.  The FRRME charity helps the families by providing some food, medical supplies, essential items for living and supplies for schools so that the children can have some kind of continuing education.  They are also providing trauma counselling and medical care to Yazidi families and girls who have been captured and abused by ISIS commandos.

The exhibition of artwork and the function will be held at the ‘Old Friary’, Brookfield Centre for Christian Spirituality, 139 Brookfield Road, Kenmore Hills.  Entry to the Auction and Soiree will be $20.  Viewing of the exhibition from 21st April – 19th May will be free.
